8 years ago in a small town in Idaho, I was attending college at BYU. When I had arrived in 2003, I began meeting various dancers and hip hop heads at this small college. Believe me there wasn’t many of us Hip Hop dancers, so we practiced and battled each other for months on end. We began holding training sessions on campus every Monday night where anyone could come learn and practice. Sometimes the school would not understand what we were trying to accomplish only thinking that Hip Hop was vulgar, disrespectful, and evil, so they would end up shutting our club down. We would come back a few times and to this day there is still practice.

What does this all mean? Well within that time my friends and I began watching videos on Style2Ouf.com and 1000por100.com where every week new videos would be released (WAY BEFORE YOUTUBE). One of the first videos I remember watching was Salah at IBE 2005 and Juste Debout 2006. This was my first initial inspiration to continue on a path learning the Hip Hop culture. Salah truly was an inspiration to me in more ways than just his style of dance, there was something about his performance that inspired me to want to learn more! I told myself I would one day go to Paris and see Juste Debout live in person and meet Salah one day! From watching his videos with IBE and Juste Debout until now, you can say he is a modern day “Charlie Chaplin” because of how his performance is meaningful beyond just the dance world.

Our European representative, Stef, surprised me with an interview she did with him at IBE 2012, which is something everyone dancer or not should watch. I grew so much as a person watching that interview! I knew when I saw Salah would be performing at Chelles Battle Pro would be my opportunity to finally meet him and tell him my story!

Well watching his rehearsal then performance and meeting him at Chelles Battle Pro was LIKE NO OTHER DANCE EXPERIENCE! I am thankful Stef and Mooh (Vagabonds) were able to make that happen for me!!! He sat and listened to my story as written above which he ended up talking personal with me! It was like two friends coming together after years of seeing each other. Salah has such great character, energy, and charisma — you can feel his talent and passion for performing as much as his interaction with people.

The next day I would get the opportunity to cipher with Salah, Gator, Greenteck, and other heavy hitters in the Popping game, it was an experience like none other. I will never forget the first moment I saw Salah 8 years ago watching videos online because it makes this moment even better knowing I followed a dream and achieved it

In conclusion, Salah shared some wise words the other day on his Facebook:

LEARNING , PRACTICE , TAKE YOUR TIME , DO NOT JUMP YOUR CHALLENGE, YOU WANNA BE DANCER ?
FIRST TRY TO KNOW YOURSELF…
DO NOT TRY TO BELIEVE …
DO IT …
THEN WHEN YOU WILL BE READY …
YOU CAN ENTER ANY CONTEST.
BUT BEFORE: PRACTICE…

SO MANY DANCER IN PRESELECTION SO MANY ARE NOT READY , STRESS, NOT ENOUGH PRACTICE, BAD SLEEP, BAD EAT, SOME DONT EAT,ITS NOT GOOD…
IF YOU DONT TAKE CARE OF YOUR BODY …
HOW YOU WILL BE ABLE TO EXPRESS YOURSELF…

RESPECT YOUR BODY = RESPECT YOUR DANCE
EAT GOOD
SLEEP GOOD
PRACTICE ALWAYS = PROGRESS
ENJOY WHAT YOU DO = BE FREE INSIDE
LOVE , SHARE , ENJOY , BE YOURSELF = ORIGINAL

MOST IMPORTANT:

PRAY BEFORE AND AFTER … SO IMPORTANT

IT WAS MY MESSAGE FOR TO DAY

PEACE SALAH
